Excerpt from Minutes of the Common Council of the City of New York, Vol. 6: 1784 1831 The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved Sundry memorials were received remonstrating against the assessment for opening Walker Street, which together with the assessment for opening said street, which was presented by the Street Commissioner, were referred to the Committee on Streets. A petition was received from George Clinton and John M'Kesson, stating, that [134] they are proprietors of certain lots in the Fifth ward, bounded Southerly by Murray Street, Northerly by Warren Street and Westerly by the West line of a water grant heretofore made to the Corporation of Trinity Church and praying for a grant of the water lot between their line and West Street, which was referred to the Comptroller A petition was also received from Coert Went, praying an abatement of the rent of the Lot N 112 fronting Chatham Street, which he held under lease from this corporation, which was also referred to the Comptroller A memorial was received from Fire Company N 30, requesting, that a larger engine might be given to them, which was referred to the Committee on the Fire department.
